Student Learns About Take-Offs
Rodrigo Rodriguez is working in the Cost Management Services group with Vanir Construction Management, Inc. He has been assigned to work with a Senior Estimator and will learn to do structural and architectural construction take-offs for the construction industry. In addition, he will gain an understanding of some building practices and construction sequencing. Rodrigo faces each work assignment with enthusiasm. Because each structure is different, it is interesting to have to adapt in order to achieve correct measurements on all structures. Currently, Rodrigo is helping with comparison estimates on a five-school estimate for a school district in the Bay Area. Rodrigo does square foot, linear foot and cubic foot take-offs. He measures the square foot of the structures, the square foot and cubic yardage of the slabs on grade and does a poundage take-off of the reinforcement steel in the concrete.
